Although small pockets of local immigrants got all hot and bothered for World Cup soccer (excuse us -- football), the rest of Miami let out a collective yawn. Apparently it takes more than buff guys running around on a field and announcers yelling “Goaaaal!” to turn this city on. We expect a far lustier response at tonight’s Cocktail World Cup Bartending Finals, which will feature hot guys and gals mixing intoxicating concoctions with a showman’s flair. Tom Cruise ain’t got nothing on our contestants.
The top ten bartenders were selected during auditions in June, and the roster includes skilled pourers from Skybar, the Loews Hotel, Prime 112, Cameo, and the Pawn Shop. The list of potions reads like a boozehound’s wet dream: Pop My Cherry, Cleopatra’s Midnight Kiss, and My Spicy Cucumber sound like ingredients for trouble. All drinks will be mixed with 42 Below Vodka. The winner will be crowned at 10:00 at Mansion.
