Strap ’Em On

We’re talking roller skates, ya big freak!

“Five days you work, one whole day to play. Come on, everybody, wear your roller skates today!” All right, maybe we’re a day too early to quote De La Soul’s classic “A Roller Skating Jam Named Saturdays,” but the feeling’s the same no matter what the calendar says. Strapping wheels to your feet makes you feel free and takes even the most irritable adult back to the days of double-dutch in the park and chasing the ice-cream man. So indulge in your favorite childhood pastime at Super Wheels.

Tonight from 7 to 9:30 p.m., it’s Fantastic Friday, an all-ages skate session in which kids can bust the moves they’ve been practicing in grocery store aisles. Forget Heelys; these are the real deal – four-wheel booties made for speed. Grown folks should stick around: From 9:45 to midnight, the tempo picks up for Club X Miami, where you can bust a move to freestyle and old-school for the first hour or so and then move on to newer dance hits for the rest of the night. Admission is $12 for the double session, and that includes skate rental.
