This open mike sounds nice.

An MC walks onto the dramatically lit stage. His anxiety is palpable, as is the anticipation in the club. Audience members are hoping this cat will give them a show worth a two-step. He is hoping he doesn’t fudge the second verse in front of the crowd, which is full of local music industry bigwigs. The DJ starts the track and Da Show has begun, and so has the career of MCs hungry for a deal and some recognition. Sure, open-mike nights in our city are as ubiquitous as strip clubs, but if true exposure and an opportunity to network with record labels, producers, DJs, and other artists is your goal, this showcase should be top priority.

On the first Tuesday of each month, Urban music hub Miami Recording Studios creates a place where hot music and chill networking reign supreme. The show starts at 9 p.m. at Flavour. Call 305-256-9506, or visit www.miamirecordingstudio.com to submit your demo and schedule your time in the spotlight.
