The Altruism of Fitness

Published on May 01, 2008 at 3:00am

Was a new-year resolution too little to inspire you to work out? Then do it for the children — literally. Leukemia accounts for 30 percent of all childhood cancers, according to the American Cancer Society. The Mercedes-Benz Corporate Run takes place at Bayfront Park, beginning at 6:45 p.m. Entry fees are $35 per person ($30 online) before May 1, and $40 on race day. A portion of the proceeds will go to the South Florida Chapter of the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.

The annual event was designed to educate people about the importance of a personal fitness program, and the 3.1-mile walk/run is for employees of corporations, government agencies, and financial institutions. And it’s for all fitness levels, so rally a posse of your work buddies and call 305-666-RACE (7223) or visit www.mercedesbenzcorporaterun.com to enter.
