The Altruism of Fitness

Was a new-year resolution too little to inspire you to work out? Then do it for the children literally. Leukemia accounts for 30 percent of all childhood cancers, according to the American Cancer Society. The Mercedes-Benz Corporate Run takes place at Bayfront Park, beginning at 6:45 p.m. Entry fees are $35 per person ($30 online) before May 1, and $40 on race day. A portion of the proceeds will go to the South Florida Chapter of the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
The annual event was designed to educate people about the importance of a personal fitness program, and the 3.1-mile walk/run is for employees of corporations, government agencies, and financial institutions. And its for all fitness levels, so rally a posse of your work buddies and call 305-666-RACE (7223) or visit www.mercedesbenzcorporaterun.com to enter.
